Steam Bath vs Regular Bath After a Massage: Which Should You Choose?
At Oakline Wellness, every massage or therapy session comes with access to both a steam bath and a regular bath afterward — separate from your booked service time. Guests sometimes ask which one they should actually use. The honest answer: it depends on how your body feels that day and what you want out of the rest of your visit.
What the steam bath does
Steam keeps your blood vessels dilated, extending the improved circulation your massage just created. It also continues loosening any muscle tightness that didn't fully release on the table, and opens pores so the massage oils keep absorbing rather than sitting on the skin's surface. It's the better choice when you want to extend the muscle-relief effect of your massage.
What the regular bath does
A regular bath is about a clean, comfortable reset — rinsing off massage oils, cooling down at your own pace, and stepping out feeling fresh rather than still warm from treatment. It's the better choice if you're heading straight into the rest of your day, such as back to work or to a meeting, and want to feel put-together rather than lingering in the warmth.
Can you use both?
Yes — most guests do. A common sequence is a few minutes in the steam bath immediately after the massage while the body is still warm and receptive, followed by a regular bath to rinse off and cool down before getting dressed.
Who should be cautious with steam
Steam bathing is safe for most guests, but if you're pregnant, have a heart condition, low blood pressure, or are feeling unwell, mention it to our therapists beforehand — they'll guide you on whether to skip the steam and go straight to a regular bath instead.
Both are included, every time
Whichever you choose — or both — the steam bath and regular bath at Oakline are included with every massage and therapy session, on top of your booked duration. For a 60-minute service, that's 15 additional minutes to use however suits you best.
